1895 INDIA SERVICE MEDAL TWO CLASPS & GvR ARMY LS&GC TO 2nd ROYAL SUSSEX REGT
1895 India Service Medal with Punjab Frontier 1897-98 and Tirah 1897-98 clasps, named in running script to: 4871 Pte. Army Long Service and Good Conduct Medal (GvR 1st issue), named with WWI style impressed capitals to: 4871 SJT: J. Both medals and clasps confirmed on medal rolls. Army LS&GC Medal awarded 1 July 1917 - Army Order 312 of October 1917. Mr Kennedy served as a Private with 2nd Battalion of the Royal Sussex Regiment in India during the Punjab and Tirah campaigns of 1897-98. He continued serving with the regiment through the Great War receiving his LS&GC Medal on 1st July 1917, although he must have completed'Home Service' only before his discharge, as we can find no record of him having a Medal Index Card or any Great War Medals being issued, and this pair appears to be his full entitlement. Otherwise Mr Kennedy is totally un-researched, so a nice little project for the regimental collector. The medals are in good VF condition with the correct ribbons attached. They come with a copy of his entry in the 1895 India Service Medal roll as well as his entry in the Army LS&GC Medal roll for the Royal Sussex Regiment.
