C W Doherty Armourer HMS Acheron. Charles William Doherty was born in Chatham, Kent 8th September 1865 an Armourer, almost certainly a Chatham Dockyard apprenticeship served man, he entered the Royal Navy at. As Armourers Crew 22nd January 1884. 29th April 1890, rated Armourers Mate 28th October 1890. 24th October 1895, advanced to Armourer 25th October 1895.

9th December 1899 (does not appear on QSA roll). Discharged to the Royal Naval Hospital, Chatham 5th April 1906 he and discharged from the Royal Navy on medical grounds 11th April 1906, he died three months later in Chatham aged 40 years. LSGC Medal awarded 11th January 1905.
