Original Australian Medal: King's South Africa, Turner, NSW Imperial Bushmen. The KSA is correctly impressed: 2583 Tpr A. Turner appears on the QSA medal roll of the 3rd NSW IB as entitled to a QSA with clasps Cape Colony, Orange Free State and Transvaal. Unlike many others on the same page he is not shown as being entitled to Laings Nek or Relief of Ladysmith.

On another roll he appears as being entitled to the 2 date bars with'no? In the column for entitlement to the KSA; every other man on that page has a simple'no' in the KSA column. The KSA entitlement is confirmed on a page headed 3rd NSW Imperial Bushmen. This shows Turner's service as : 3068 Tpr Thorneycroft's Mounted Infantry 20 Oct 1899 to 31 Mar 1901 2583 Tpr 3rd NSW Imperial Bushmen 12 Nov 1901 to 15 May 1902 He also appears on 2 medal rolls for Thorneycroft's Mounted Infantry. On one of these he is crossed off and comments refer to the 3NSWIB roll.

On the other he is shown as 3068 Tpr Austin Turner, Thorneycroft's Mounted Infnatry entitled to the clasps Cape Colony, Tugela Heights, Orange Free State, Relief of Ladysmith, Transvaal, Laings Nek and that the medal and 6 clasps were issued on 11 Nov 1902. All badges have original lugs or pins unless otherwise stated.
