Been made as a useable stone Masons hammer... It is far too fancy for that. You will see the handle shows two differant colours of the wood as well which is nice.. Its lathe turned then finished off by engine turning to create the fabulous arrow direction raised bottom half.
Its been made for a special occasion. If you look on the bottom now.. You will see it has a MEDAL like central part with the side profile busts of. VICTORIA BRITAN: REGINA, ET ALBERT SAX COBURG GOTHA PRINCEPS. This type of medal and wording you will find by.And a couple of his medals come to mind... The MARRIAGE of them both in 1840 as well as the BIRTH of their son Prince Albert Edward the Prince of Wales in 1841. It will need a little MORE research really by some of you that have more time on their hands to look into this... But in my opinion this is related to the. ROYAL WEDDING of Queen Victoria & Albert in 1840.
And could well be prototype item as I have NEVER seen another one of these.... See another similar listing with just young Queen Victoria on the bottom.
These could well be the ONLY 2 KNOWN examples and are worthy of being in a museum for all to see or a serious collectors cabinet. What a really fabulous quality Royal collectable. It is 8 and half inch tall overall x 4 and half inch dia base x 1 inch dia top of the handle... The central medal part is 1 and half inch dia.
Remember it is all made from Lignum Vitae.. Even though it has a medal details on the bottom.. All made from tjhe same bit of wood. It has a slight edge knock off the first step down from the handle where it flares out..
A small knock of wood out here. See the photographs which enlarge. Please see close up pictures for more detail.
The item(s) are shown next to an English 1 penny which is 20mm dia for scale. 2.5cm = 25mm = 1 inch. Once an item is the in the postal system any delays are out of my cont rol.
