1848 UK Navy General Service Medal. Beautiful 1848 UK Navy General Service Medal. This medal is in gorgeous condition save, as you can see, someone has tried to file off the name on it (this was common as the recipient would never have to pay for a pint in a pub again so if someone who hadnt earned it acquired it they would file off the name so no one could tell they didnt earn it). As you can see the recipient had to Ds in their name.

I havent tried to take steps to see if the name can be figured out. This is a very rare medal and highly sought after with the Trafalgar bar (the Waterloo of the sea). (Would also consider a trade for a Waterloo Medal).
