1906 Belgium Leopold II 1865-1905 Commemorative Medal & Document Of Award Rare
This is a rare combination of the medal with the original signed certificate of award. One of the first year of the award was 1906. The certificate award & medal are framed (without glass covering it) and is in good vintage condition.
The medal appears to be in good shape with the ribbon looking good but maybe slightly faded on the cloth. Light frays are present at the top. The paper of the certificate is decent vintage condition with some issues. There is light creases in areas around the award. There are light rough/scuff type marks in a few areas (see pics) and there is discoloration areas around the paper.
No obvious tears or similar type damage. The writing on the certificate of award is very good and clear. (I have attached two screenshots of translations from Google to help you better know what this means). My best research is the Name of Jauquet or perhaps Jaquet spelled differently. There was a famous Belgium sculptor named Joseph Jaquet that would have been somebody that could have been presented this award for his service.
I have attached a screenshot below of Joseph and something about him, please read. Know way to tell if that is the person who actually received this, that's just my best research and I encourage you to research this piece on your own. The certificate measures approximately 14.25" x 9.5" and the frame makes it 12" x 17.25".

About the medal - The medal was initially awarded to civil servants with a minimum of 20 years of honourable service between 1865 and 1905 who were eligible for the Civic Decoration for long service. It was reissued slightly modified (see description below) in 1951 at the request of veterans' groups, to veterans and military personnel who had a minimum of one year's good and faithful service between 16. December 1865 and 18 December 1909.21. The medal was once again reissued for a third time in 1952, again slightly modified, to members and veterans of the Force Publique who also had a minimum of one year's good and faithful service between 1 July 1885 and 18 December 1909.131 The one year's minimum service requirement was later removed by royal decrees in 1959 and 1960.
