1940s Ethiopian Imperial Saint George Medal Certificate, Fitawrari Geleta Korech

A genuine Ethiopian imperial award certificate from the 1940s, issued to Fitawrari (?????) Geleta Korecho in association with the Saint George Medal and his service to the imperial government. "Fitawrari" is an Ethiopian title traditionally translated as Commander of the Vanguard. The named recipient and association with a specific imperial decoration give this document considerably more historical and research interest than an unissued certificate. The certificate is printed in Amharic and features the imperial Lion of Judah emblem at the top, surrounded by Amharic lettering. A decorative green, yellow and red border frames the formal text, with two handwritten signatures appearing at the bottom. Associated award: Saint George Medal. Format: Official issued award certificate. Signatures: Two visible handwritten signatures. The certificate remains in very good vintage condition for its age. It shows fold lines, creasing, worn corners, small edge tears, light marks and age-related discolouration. The imperial emblem, decorative border, Amharic text and signatures remain clearly visible. A compelling named document for collectors of Ethiopian imperial history, African militaria, medals and decorations, Amharic documents and Lion of Judah memorabilia.
