Provenance: Sothebys, April 1911; Needes Collection, Glendinings, November 1939. Samuel Reek served in Lieutenant-Colonel Webber-Smiths F Troop during the Waterloo Campaign, 16th-18th June 1815. At the Battle of Waterloo F Troop were positioned in the centre of Wellingtons right flank, and suffered terrible casualties during the final attack of the French Imperial Guard as their artillery focused on the thin line of horse gunners. With copied medal roll extract. A Samuel Reeks appears on the 1851 Census residing in Flintham, Nottinghmshire, born 1795 Balderton, Notts, possibly the same person.
