7th Battalion - London Light Infantry. Very crisp detail, high relief, dark toned. James Groves was born at Little Waltham, Chelmsford, Essex.
He attested for the 20th Foot aged 19 in September 1839 and served 8 years with them before transferring to The Royal Canadian Rifles with who he served another 14 years, 24 years total. He took part in the attack on Fort Erie during the Fenian raids.He died aged 82 at London, Ontario. Member of OMRS, OMSA, MCCofC etc. The item "Canada General Ser.
