Cased Imperial Germany WW1 Iron Cross Medal Display. The set consists of the WW1 Cross of Honour for military combatants (also known as the Hindenburg Cross), the 2nd class Iron Cross and the first class Iron Cross. The later appears to be an unofficial 1st class one to compliment the dress uniform official one.
Also included is a ribbon clasp with for the Iron Cross, Cross of Honour and a black wound badge. The Iron Cross has the Imperial Crown with "FW" for King Friedrich Wilhelm, a sprig of Oak leaves signifying strength and the commemorative date 1813?
The Cross of Honour awarded to combatants (Frontkämpferkreuz) shows a laurel wreath circling the the years 1914 and 1918 in the centre. It has crossed swords between the arms, while the Cross of Honour for Non-Combatants and next of kin have no swords. The Cross of Honour is worn suspended from a ribbon with black edges, two white stripes and a centre red stripe.The medals are of standard size. The frame is 14.4 inches (36.5cm) wide, 11.2 inches (28.5cm) tall and 1.3 inches (3.3cm) deep. The total weight is 1.11 kg. The medals are in good condition.
