An original, in period Paris Mint strike bronze medal depicting the imperial visit of Napoleon III and Princess Eugenie on 6th May 1866 to Auxerre. Such visits outside Paris were done so Napoleon III could allow himself to be familiarised to the greater population and medal were struck to commemorate such visits. The medal is made from bronze. The medal diameter is 46mm and weight approx 46g. The 20p coin is a size guide.
Condition : The medal is in generally very good condition with a scratch to the field of the obverse which slightly detracts. Edge mint marks are clear. Photographs are of the actual item for sale.
