Queen's South Africa Medal 1899-1902 to a Civilian Ganger, Imperial Railways

A civilian'Ganger' on the state railways. After the two capitals of the Boer republics fell into British hands the British Forces took over the railways in the two former republics and operated a railway styled the Imperial Military Railways.

The military railways were very effectively run by Colonel Sir EPC Girouard. They even had their own Railways Police.
