Queen Victoria & Prince Albert Medal "The Great Britain" c. By Davis Allen, Allen & Moore, Birmingham 1843. White Metal, Plain Edge (Believed Original).
A commemorative medal featuring conjoined busts of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, with reverse depicting "The Great Britain", after the well-documented Allen & Moore (Birmingham) 1843 design. Design: Victoria & Albert / SS Great Britain. Material: Believed white metal (no silver hallmarks present).
Date: Believed 19th century (exact striking unconfirmed). This medal is associated with the Allen & Moore Birmingham issue commemorating the launch of the SS Great Britain (1843).
Comparable examples are held in museum collections, including the Victoria & Albert London, and Royal Museums Greenwich, where this design is documented as being produced in base metals such as white metal. Heavily handled consistent with honest age-related wear. Irregular surface wear and patina. No cleaning or polishing evident.
