Sterling bar at the top of the medal is marked: 1st Degree 16 Feb. 1928" Lower bar is marked: "2nd Degree 7 July, 1930" Rear of medal is marked: "This Order of Merit and Honour of Knighthood was conferred upon Bro Alfred E Thompson on C. By the Lord Wellington Lodge No 6435 23 Jan. 1936 As A Mark of Appreciation For Services in the Cause of Buffaloism and Their Regard For Him As A Man And A Brother.

Hallmarked by Chester Assay Office 9k gold 375 by maker Charles Usher. Medal and link that holds it on to the ribbon are both marked gold. Bar at top of medal is marked sterling by Charles Usher, other bar is not marked. Total weight of medal and ribbon is 29 grams.
