Frederick Llewellyn Kemp was born at Kingston, Surrey on 12 Aug 1898, he joined the Royal Navy early in 1915 giving his occupation as "Hairdresser's Assistant". Serving until 1927, he was recalled on 28th August 1939 for WW2. His WW2 records have not been researched but by January 1945 he was apparently serving in the Merchant Navy as there is an arrival record of him at New York aboard Fort Poplar.
