Russian Imperial Catherine the Great Silver Jetton PEACE WITH SWEDEN 1790 Medal

Russian Imperial Silver Jetton (Medallion) in Commemoration of Signing Peace Treaty with Sweden, 1790. These is GUARANTEED 100% ORIGINAL item struck at the Russian State Mint and issued during the reign of Catherine the Great - not a later reissue or a modern replica! The jetton is made in solid silver and measures approx. 22 mm diameter; weighs 4.0 grams. The obverse shows florals and the motto "Neighborly and Eternal". On the reverse, inscription "Peace with Sweden Signed on 3 August 1790". Heavy wear throughout and traces of impact to the lower part. However the inscription is fully legible and most of the details of the artwork are fully discernable, including the beaded edge. The jetton was reportedly awarded to officials and noblemen invited to the festivities marking the signing of the peace treaty.

A nice companion piece to medals of Catherine the Great period, such as the Medal for Bravery in Finnish Waters or the Medal for Peace with Sweden (the latter was awarded only to combatants). Please note, penny in our photo is for size reference.
