This is an AUTHENTIC 1896 Russian Imperial Copper Table Medal awarded by the Main Directorate of State Horse Breeding for the All-Russian Horse Show. This is a large medal signifies excellence in Equestrian Breeding.

This was an important medal, as it highlighted the importance of Horse Breeding to the Russian empire in the late 19th Century. IMPORTANT DETAILS OF THIS MEDAL FROM 1896.

Historic Date and Context: Nicholas II had just become the Tsar. His father, Alexander III, had died in 1894. Nicholas was actually crowned in May of 1896. Purpose: High Level Recognition from the tsar's government for advancement in horse breeding. Remember, Tsarist 19th Century Russia was a mainly agrarian country. Advancements in agriculture were very important. Issuer: Main Directorate of State Horse Breeding for the Russian Empire and the Tsar. Material: Bronze, with a custom copper outer surface.
