On the slice justified EE / 300. As indicated by the inscribed section, this is an Editor's Copy (EE) for the French Medal Club, out of 300 minted copies.
The actual print reserved for artists, as a gift by the director, to the medalist of the Currency Museum and to the legal deposit of the Cabinet des Médailles de la BNF was between 8 and 12 copies per subject at the sole discretion of the head of the establishment. Obverse description: Head on the right of Louis XIV signed TB in monogram [n° 246]. Obverse translation: Louis le Grand, roi. VOLUCE; AT THE EXERGUE: JURE.
