Victorian British Ashantee Medal 1873-74 to Royal Navy, H. Ashantee Medal 1873-74, no clasp. Christopher Hoar was born 23rd May 1839 at Biddeford, Devon. With a copy of a local newspaper obituary giving his life story and also showing a photo of Christopher Hoare wearing his medals.
He is recorded to of served in the Crimea as a 15 year old Cabin Boy and also the Baltic expedition. His ships included Marlborough, Cambridge, Lord Clyde, Liverpool, Bittern, Lord Warden and Duke of Wellington.He retired in 1875 with the rank of Quarter Master.
