Thomas's occupation upon enlisting was a moulder. Thomas was baptised on the 12th December 1894 at St Werburgh Church in Derby.Thomas enlisted into the Royal Navy on the 18th January in 1913. He was aged 18 years and 2 months old upon enlisting. His completion upon enlisting was the following; his height was 5ft 5 inches, light brown, blue eyes and had a fresh complexion. During Thomas's time servicing in the Royal Navy he was issued and awarded a 1914-15 star, war medal, victory medal, and long service medal which are all present. Discharged 1st of August 1919. After 6 years and 6 months of service. He then joined the Royal Navy reserve until the 15th of February 1935, which was a further 15 years and 6 months of service.
