WW2 Royal Naval Reserve & Cornwall police medal group Interesting history
A very interesting WW2 Royal Naval Reserve LSGC medal group to Petty Officer Jack Phillips. Comes with some copied research. He was in the light Cruiser HMS Sirius during Operation Husky (Sicily Landings) in 1943. Onboard HMS Newfoundland when she was torpedoed by either Italian Submarine Ascianghi or U-407 on 27th March, 1943. She limped back to to Malta missing her rudder with one killed and 15 wounded. Served in Police in Devon & Cornwall district. Interesting to see Royal Navy reserve with fighting history. A lovely group, mounted for display. WW2 stars and War medal unnamed as issued.
